Glaucus takes its name after the Ovid's story about a human who ate a herb who gave him immortality but transformed parts of his body making him a mermaid like being.
The piece consists in a altered mannequin, with a camera as an eye and a prosthetic arm that contains a pneumatic system which makes it move accordingly to where the humans are.
To interpret where to move, it uses Artificial Intelligence in order to read the real time capture of the camera, understanding what is a human and therefore following them.
Like the story, Glaucus reprents a metamorphosis in between human and machine, where Artificial intelligence plays a role on merging both systems into one symbiotic new being, which will be the next step of evolution.
